Took a couple of things to the post office to mail out for E-Bay this morning. Got back and was feeling a bit better so got to looking at the compost pile and the leaf covered raised beds and decided to do a bit of turning them. Which I did. And it wiped me out. Bet I didn’t work more than 30 minutes but took it all out of me. Came in and did a bit on the computer then ate lunch. Took some dough out of the fridge and removed enough to do a couple of loaves, worked them a bit and put them into greased pans to rise.
And Firefox crashed on me in the middle of this. Hate it when that happens. Only lost a couple of lines which is better than the entire piece. Now lets see if I can get the chain of thought back…
Added some flour, water, and salt to the remaining dough and stirred it up then covered and put in front of the heater along with the two loaf pans to rise. Went out back and continued to clear off the old work bench. Got all the junk off it and then removed the plywood and 2×8’s. Cleaned the stuff off the bottom shelf and took the boards off and then removed the support frames. Raked the crap up off the ground where the bench had been and then took the tarp off of half the wall facing the trailer so I can start on getting the uprights and framing up for the next section of the porch roofing. Cat came out and started moving some of the firewood to get to the wheelbarrow and when she got to it found it had a flat tire. So I carried it and the hand trucks to the barn and turned on the compressor and aired the tires up. Brought them back and I came in to take a break. She got it most of it moved to the porch and I went back out to do a bit more. Got down to the Delco jack that I had loaned a guy a while back and decided to see if I could figure out what he had done to it to screw it up. Had plenty of oil but just would not jack up. Took the release screw out and probed into the opening and the ball was missing. Guess he took the damn screw out and lost the ball for some reason. Arsehat! As far as I can tell there was absolutely no reason to have taken it out. And of course when he brought it back he didn’t tell me it wasn’t working. Was nice and clean and non rusted when he borrowed it but had been in the back of his truck in the rain when I got it back and all rusted up. Never again with that person. Anyway measured the opening that the ball had to go into and then went to the barn to see if I could find one that would fit. Found one but was too big, then found an old Toyota throwout bearing. Beat it till it came apart and got the balls out. Looked about right so took some of them back up to where the jack was and one fit right in the opening. Put the screw back in and cinched it down and the sucker jacked right up. Only took about 45 minutes out of my life that I will never get back. Not to mention the raised blood pressure that occurred when I figured out what he (or someone during the time he had it) had done to my nearly new jack. Ah well venting over for now… After getting that finished, did a bit more clearing out and then started moving wood from under the radial arm saw so I can move it and the fridge housing it is sitting on so I can start building shelves and work benches along that wall of the trailer. Worked on it till almost dark and called it a night. Came in and warmed and ate supper then put the bread in the oven. The dough that I had added to in the bowl was not rising too good so I added another cup of flour and some more yeast and a bit of water and am letting it work at room temp for a bit longer before putting in the fridge for the night. Did a bit at the computer and then took the bread out of the oven. Let it cool and tried a bit. Is ok but not as good as the last was. Will see how this that is working now turns out tomorrow.
And I am about done in so am gonna call it a night. Till the morrow…
