If you decide to try UNetbootin in Linux and clicking on it tries to launch wine, check the properties and set the “execute this file as a program” box. If after doing that it comes up with a screen that says

7z not found. This is required for either install mode.
Install the “p7zip-full” package or your distribution’s equivalent.

then try the command below.

Gutsy – Kubuntuguide

sudo apt-get install p7zip-full

The open-source 7-Zip archive format was originally designed for Windows (and, to a lesser extent, DOS) but is also available for Ubuntu. The GNU/Linux version of 7-Zip does not come with a GUI, but Ark can hook into 7-Zip to handle 7z archives.

I hunted for this for a while and finally found it just now by accident, so am putting it here for others that are having a problem with it. Don’t know why the folks that wrote Unetbootin don’t have anything on their site about it or if they do I haven’t been able to find it.

After adding the p7zip-full program to Xubuntu, Unetbootin works as advertised.
