Scanner

Decided to hook the old HP Scanjet 3970 up on the iBook so I can scan book covers and such. Dug up the power supply and cables and hooked it up and nothing. Figured that it wasn’t being recognized by the os so downloaded the HP Photosmart Studio software and installed it. Still nothing. Took the scanner apart and found a bad capacitor and blown fuse. Located another cap and a fuse that is close enough and put them in, reassembled it enough to check it out and it worked. Put it back together after a bit of lubing here and there and it does it’s scanning thing again. Still thinking about installing SANE and seeing if it will work as I like the SANE interface better than HP’s. Will see how it does after a day or two. First test scan below.
