Rest of the Fourth

After I posted the morning blather, did a bit of reading, then fired up the kerosene stove and cooked (boiled) between 4 and 5 pounds of white potatoes. Cleaned up the Weber grill and started some charcoal and grilled some burgers and dogs, while cooking some baked beans in the microwave. Ate lunch and then went over to the folks house and after talking and fighting with the cat for a while, picked a sack of tomatoes and got some sage and basil plants to put out. Came back home and after unloading and putting stuff up, went out back and worked on the back wall some more. Got the plywood cut and in place and seams caulked then put the trim back up and did a bit more filling and caulking. Came in and fixed a big batch of potato salad and put it in the fridge to cool and came in to the cool part of the dwelling and read a while. Warmed and ate supper and about the time we finished the neighbor on the corner started shooting off fireworks, so Cat and I sat and watched it for a while from the upstairs window and then got the yard chairs and went outside and sat and watched for a while longer. I guess they shot them off for an hour or so. They had some nice aerials of the professional type too. Lotta money up in smoke. Not sure what the morrow will bring, guess we will figure it out when it gets here. Till then… 😉

One Response to “Rest of the Fourth”

Much the same with us. The neighbors both across the street and down the street (in both directions!) fired off an impressive amount of stuff. Real good stuff too. We wound up in folding chairs out near the road watching for about an hour. The folks to the south of us set of a string of firecrackers that went for at LEAST 10 minutes–I mean a LONG time. Lots of stuff going up all over the place.

The day wasn’t much, stayed home until I went to the folks for lunch/supper. ‘Twas good, and then brought some home for the wife, who had to work. The fireworks were definitely the height of the day.

    Have a good one!
