And one of those nights

Too. First the compressor/belt. Then the monitor on the test machine starts going black. Power down and back up and it comes back. At first for a long time and then shorter and shorter till we were getting a minute or two. So figure it is time to tear it down and see what the problem is. Start disassembling it and need more light. Go to turn the overhead lights on and no joy. Porch light still worked so I knew that power was coming in. Started taking the screws on the cover plate out and had ants crawl out. Got the WD-40 and sprayed into the screw holes and then took the rest out. Guess the water ran them to higher ground and they climbed into the switch. Cut power and replaced the bad one. Powered it back up and have overhead lights again. Took the Dell monitor apart and cannot find any obvious problems. Guess I’ll crack the case on the power supply brick and see what’s up in there. Tomorrow. Tonight I am calling it done as I am done in. Till tomorrow… 😉

One Response to “And one of those nights”

  1. Steve Goodwin Says:

Some days are just like that–yes they are…

Hopefully today will be better. For both of us. Spent most of yesterday showing the 7th graders how to log into a new web-based program we are using at the high school. Went well, actually, in no small part due to the fact that the teacher absolutely RULES her class, discipline-wise. As do all the 7th grade teachers–it’s the only way to survive….not that the 7th graders are bad, really, they are just 7th graders. Sixth and seventh grade are where the hormones REALLY start to kick in, and the brain just doesn’t really stand a chance most of the time. It would be nice to be young again, but I’m not sure if I could go through that again…

The rest of the day I just did a little this ‘n that. Hopefully today I can get some stuff going. I have a list…

Have a good one, and good luck with all the hardware!
