Don’t know enough about this to comment but sounds reasonable from what I have read elsewhere. A very not good situation.

Hard to say–lot of supposition from very fragmentary information. There is no doubt that there have been many major extinctions, and just because we are self-aware is certainly no guarantee that we won’t do it to ourselves–actually, it seems to make it more likely. Of course, if a world-changing/ending event were ramping up, history pretty much shows that whatever government is in power would do everything it could to cover it up right up to the moment of ultimate disaster–human nature is one of those things that just doesn’t change.

Hmm…maybe it will take about 29 months for all of this to go down, in which case the Mayans will be right…no doubt laughing their asses off somewhere out there in infinity….we’ll see, I guess…

Note–this will NOT be the end of the world, or of life on earth–just possibly of us. Could be nature’s way of getting rid of a major blight on the planet–homo sapiens. Though, actually, I don’t really think that nature has it in for us, it just does what it does and all the little animals and plants (including us) live and die off as conditions dictate. As Robert Heinlein said: “The earth is far too small and fragile a basket for mankind to put all of its eggs in.” Since we haven’t managed to get out of the chicken coop, when the foxes come, well, we’ll become fox shit, yes? Whatever comes next will need fertilizer, after all…
